Over 20 years’ filmmaking experience in the UK, Middle East and Southern Africa. Khalid has brought numerous documentaries to light with some of the best directors and producers in South Africa. Many of these films have featured at major festivals around the world including Hajooj Kuka’s Beats of the Antonov which won best film at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. He directed and edited his first feature documentary, Imam and I, in 2011 and is on the verge of finishing his second film, The Colonel’s Stray Dogs.
Khalid has held an associate lectureship position at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, was an integral part in the running of Africa’s first Rough Cut Edit Lab with the Encounters Intl Documentary Film Festival, holds the prestigious South African Guild of Editors acronym and has acquired various awards along the way.
